Gearing up for the Platinum Jubilee
This week our plans for celebrating the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee have gone up a gear and we’ve all enjoyed getting involved in a range of craft activities. We even managed to get out into the garden for some of the time. It was lovely to be out in the fresh air and several residents who didn’t want to craft joined us for a chat in the sunshine.
Activities this week have included making beautiful jewelled crowns, patriotic wind chimes, eye-catching collages of the Queen and red, white and blue paper flowers. We’ve got lots more in the pipeline for next week and are having such fun getting together in this way and taking the opportunity to remember the past 70 years and how things have changed during Queen Elizabeth II’s reign.
Wellbeing Wednesdays
This week has also been an exciting one for our carers. We are taking part in a pilot programme aimed at improving the health and wellbeing of those providing social care. We are among a selection of care homes in Yorkshire who will be receiving weekly “Wellbeing Wednesday” fruit baskets to ensure our team always has access to healthy snacks. The first basket was delivered by Bingham & Browne this week and was absolutely magnificent. We are grateful to Support Social Care Heroes, who is spearheading this programme, and look forward to getting more involved in the next phase of the initiative - The Health for Heroes Challenge - when it launches in the next few weeks.
