Staff and residents at Westbourne House and Northfield Nursing Home have their eyes firmly fixed on Easter, with preparations for the celebration well under way. Homes have been decorated with garlands and bunting and everywhere you look are bunnies, carrots, chicks and eggs in beautiful pastel palettes.
We have made a start on our Easter craft activities. Residents have enjoyed making cards for their families, Easter bonnets, sweetie boxes and embellished cardboard eggs. Our displays are already looking wonderfully colourful. As always, staff members were glad to help out where needed and everyone took advantage of the chance for a good chat and cup of tea.
Lots of our ladies enjoyed getting their hair and nails done this week and we were happy to celebrate another birthday. John, who lives at Westbourne House, turned 97 last Friday and marked the occasion in the best possible way with beer and cake!
Social Care Heroes
It’s once again time for us to pay tribute to two of our wonderful Social Care Heroes and our nominees for last month’s Social Care Hero Awards, Ella Ruica and Jenny Peacock.
Ella Ruica is a registered nurse based at Westbourne Care Home. She worked tirelessly throughout the pandemic with a level of positive energy which never failed to boost staff morale. Ella is unfailingly kind and helpful, going above and beyond to ensure residents are always well looked after.
Jenny Peacock is deputy manager at Northfield Nursing Home and instrumental in ensuring the smooth running of the home. She provides clear leadership to team members throughout the home, supporting them in their roles and offering assistance and supervision when required. She is amazing with our residents, always putting their needs first to ensure they receive the best possible care.
Thank you Ella and Jenny for everything you do. You are definitely heroes to us!
