As a result, Alison Grant and Toby Underwood at PWC have been appointed as joint administrators of Pullever Limited which owns and runs Newfield.
All residents have either been moved to another care home or discharged on a care plan.
A consultation with staff had been started and all matters relating to staff will now be dealt with by the joint administrators.
Nicola Richards, Director of Palms Row Health Care group, of which Newfield was part commented:
“In many ways Covid-19 has been the straw that broke the camel’s back. Care homes across the country are struggling and our news today is a sad reminder that social care needs urgent support and long-term funding solutions agreed at a national level.
“The staff at Newfield are nothing short of heroes and I wish them all the very best in the future.
“At Northfield and Westbourne homes, Palms Row will continue to provide all of the necessary support to make sure that ongoing care for residents continues to the same high standards that we have provided for many years.”
